Engle Homes Closing (?) in Colorado
from Denver Business Journal…
“Engle Homes Colorado/James Co. of Englewood will stop operating, if its parent company doesn’t find a buyer for the local homebuilder by the time it finishes homes currently under construction, according to a spokeswoman for parent TOUSA Inc.
The local Engle Homes operation, like others across the country, is finishing construction on homes already under way at a time TOUSA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early 2008. TOUSA spokeswoman Jennifer Mercer, of the Van Meter Consultants public relations firm in Sherman Oaks, Calif., said she didn’t know how many homes Engle Homes Colorado has left to complete.
Engle Homes Colorado’s division president, Don Merrell, left the company in 2008, and marketing director Natalie Dreher also no longer is with the builder, according to the company.
TOUSA, based in Hollywood, Fla., said in March that Engle would downsize operations nationwide, including laying off staff, and stop building new homes because of “the severe economic environment.” The company has been completing homes already under construction, as well as selling its remaining home and land inventory.”
